"I didn't know you planned events."

About 8 years ago I got my first taste of event planning as a student working on a summer grant in my small community in Cape Breton. This summer position proved to be very challenging and very rewarding. From researching suppliers, to contacting sponsors, to marketing & designing ads, to day-of prep & execution, to clean up & follow up - I got to experience it all.

A few months after the summer festival was over, I received a call from a WestJet Fun n' Festival representative who informed me that the festival I planned had won #1 festival in Nova Scotia that summer. Thrilled by this news - I realized I might have a knack for event planning.

I soon returned to school at NSCC, and in my second year joined the Student Association as VP of Student Activities. I saw this as another opportunity to learn more about event planning and gain skills in this field. In this position I grew orientation day to orientation week; planning multiple events daily for the student body during the first month of classes. Throughout the year I planned and executed events including inviting student's kids on campus for a day of Halloween fun, coffee houses during exam period, and a very popular make your own sundae station. This position challenged my event management abilities, all while balancing my full time student workload.

Since I graduated from NSCC in 2015 I've been planning and executing multiple events for friends & family while working full time. Birthday celebrations, anniversaries, baby showers, company milestones, & tea parties to name a few. Many people let parties diminish from a celebration into 'nothing fancy' because they think that planning a 'big event' is expensive or unnecessary. Don't let your celebration fizzle out because of a low budget or lack of assistance- that's why I'm here! In planning family and friend's events I've worked with budgets big and small. Most family and friend event requests have a smaller budget. With this in mind, and my passion and flare for arts & crafts, I've handmade many decorations for events. I've also gotten creative with utilizing pre-owned props and decorations and re-purposed them for new events. This has helped save on costs while still making events look polished and impressive.

Two years ago I began working as a Cruise Account Representative at Ambassatours Gray Line. What's a Cruise Account Rep? They're the people that create shore excursions, submit proposals, contract, negotiate supplier agreements, and plan day-of operations for cruise ship guests. This position has only strengthened my ability to multitask, build relationships with clients & suppliers, and stay organized. Checklists are my friend!

I've always had a very entrepreneurial spirit - thanks to my business owner & hardworking Mom & Dad. Since I was young I often sold my handmade crafts such as drawings from the age of 4 to my family for $0.25. Today I sell my knit & crochet pieces, paintings, caricature drawings, & just about anything else I'm able to create around the world. Recently I've decided I wanted to become an entrepreneur and own my own wedding & event planning business.

I took my first step on this new path with my childhood friend who recently got engaged. I reached out to assist in any way possible with their big day in hopes of making their lives a little easier. They needed help with creating invites - a task I gladly took and 'ran with'. I met with the Bride to be to determine what her vision was and created over 12 unique invitations from scratch for the happy couple to review. We are now nearing the finished product and they will soon be ready to mail out for their wedding celebration in October. I've been so lucky and honored to assist with this aspect of their wedding.

After lengthy and repeated discussions with close family and friends, I'm finally ready to really ignite my entrepreneurial flame and make my dream of owning an event & wedding planning business a reality. So here I am - taking another leap into the event world and offering my services to individuals outside of my close circle. Please browse my site and send me a note if you want to have a special event (small or large) planned! Let me take the hassle & stress out of event planning so you can sit back and enjoy your celebration. Let's get started.
