Alysha & Shane

Kempt Head, NS

08.29.2020

This was one of those days that I sat back and thought - 'wow, I am so lucky I get to call this my job'. Just like them, Alysha & Shane have such easy going and friendly people in their lives and I had the privilege to share a very special day with all of them.

Alysha's Mother, Becky, called me with less than two weeks to go before Alysha & Shane planned to get married. These unprecedented times have made things a little disappointing and then very exciting for Alysha & Shane. Becky had been handling most of the wedding planning and after exhausting (almost) all options, made the very difficult decision to break the news to Alysha & Shane that they were not able to host their wedding in 2020 due to Covid-19. That is, until my phone rang. I was almost as happy as Alysha & Shane that they were able to celebrate their marriage, and with all of the special people in their lives in attendance.

As a Cape Breton-er, I was thrilled to coordinate a wedding in such a beautiful place on the island. With a lightning & rain storm in the forecast things were looking a little, well - gloomy; but Alysha & Shane lucked out and were graced with the perfect calm before the storm. On a gorgeous sunny day in August, Alysha & Shane got married on their family's property. Along the rippling waters of the Bras d'Or Lakes, overlooking the rolling hills, Alysha & Shane said 'I do'. It was on this day that I got to watch two of the coolest people with such deep love for each other get married. It's not everyday that a couple who both not only play in multiple medal bands, but also share a love of skateboarding get married.

Dinner was served outdoors overlooking the breathtaking view as the happy couple was surrounded by family, friends and a few fluffy pups. The most wonderful day ended with a performance by Alysha & Shane's band (yes they are that cool), fireworks, cake, & celebratory drinks. Before the first drops of rain, the newly wedded couple soaked in every last drop of joy from the best day of their lives.
